Researching one opinion without looking at the opposite is bad. Not only are you looking in one place for something that could possibly be in another place, you are also not exercising your ability to reason.
When you look at both sides, you're strengthening your creativity and widening your curiosity. Because the more you look at something, the more you are able to use imagination and concentration with it. Think about it. If you had never seen, heard, touched, smelled or even tasted anything, how would you think? And creativity is partly made up of imagination. Your imagination and curiosity widen when you think to figure a hard thing out. Curiosity widens when you find come up with an answer, because figuring out interesting things is always something you'll want to do again and again. In general, one- side research does not widen your curiosity as much, because you do not do as much thinking to get it through. And it is not as helpful with enabling you to concentrate on the subject and exercise your creativity.
Logic is the ability to make sense between 2 or more different things you know or think. It can also be used to point out a false theory, if you think hard enough. When you look at one side, you do not use as much logic. While looking at 2 sides, you use more logic in the debate as you go through the pros, cons, challenges and responses, trying to see which ones are true and which ones are false. You are seeing more points and making a harder decision.
Creativity, curiosity and logic cannot exist without each other. There would be no ability to use creativity or logic if there was no curiosity to enforce it and using creativity and logic to find answers builds more curiosity because you will want to learn more. And knowing the truth is at its maximum importance, when you're finding out right from wrong. Do you know which side would be more important to look at, if you were only looking at one side?
